4th Advanced Architecture Contest, INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION CITY-SENSE: Shaping our environment with real-time data

The Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia and HP are pleased to announce the 4th Advanced Architecture Contest, on the theme of CITY-SENSE: Shaping our environment with real-time data
The aim of the competition is to promote discussion and research through which to generate insights and visions, ideas and proposals that help us envisage what the city and the habitat of the 21st century will be like.
The competition is open to architects, engineers, planners, designers and artists who want to contribute to progress in making the world more habitable by developing a proposal capable of responding to emerging challenges in areas such as ecology, information technology, architecture, and urban planning, with the purpose of balancing the impact real-time data collection might have on sensor-driven cities.

The prize (Total value: 50.000, 00 EUR) will be distributed at the discretion of the Juries following the bases scheme.

The competition jury, (LINK TO JURY) which is composed by Aaron Betsky, Vicente Guallart, Juan Herreros, Michel Rojkind, Nader Tehrani, Neil Gershenfeld and Willy Muller among others, is looking for outstanding proposals at any scale, for any city in the world on Smart Cities, Eco neighborhoods, Self-sufficient buildings, Intelligent homes or any other proposal that analyzes the phenomena of sensor-driven cities and intelligent behavioural systems.

The Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia is a cutting edge education and research centre dedicated to the development of an architecture capable of meeting the worldwide challenges in the construction of habitability in the early 21st century. Based in the 22@ district of Barcelona, one of the world’s capitals of architecture and urbanism, IAAC is a platform for the exchange of knowledge with faculty and students from over 25 countries, including USA, China. India, Poland, Italy, Mexico and Sudan. IAAC organizes the Masters course in Advanced Architecture, directed by Vicente Guallart, Willy Müller and Marta Malé-Alemany in conjunction with the UPC Polytechnic University. The Open Thesis Fabrication course is open to Masters architecture students from around the world.
