MIPIM Architectural Review Future Project Awards – call for entries

The Architectural Review

The organisers of the annual MIPIM Architectural Review Future Project Awards have called for entries into their 2014 competition, with the deadline for submissions confirmed as 13 December 2013.

Now in their twelfth year, the awards are the only competition focusing exclusively on future projects. They celebrate excellence in unbuilt or incomplete projects spanning across twelve categories. The awards take place at MIPIM, the global property fair, which attracts over 20,000 delegates to Cannes.

With a strong focus on creativity, these awards are a chance to showcase projects that are examples of fine architecture, but have also responded to the client’s development brief, and considered the way in which they will impact and contribute to the community around them.

2013 Overall Winner - Skidmore Owings and Merrill’s Breathing Tower 2

Catherine Slessor, Editor, The Architectural Reviewcomments “We’re looking forward to returning to Cannes for a twelfth successful year. Our competition focuses on exemplary standards of architectural design, but also celebrates the most innovative responses to a client’s development brief, and so MIPIM constitutes a really appropriate forum for the awards.”

“While our awards celebrate projects that have not been built, and possibly may never be, we also have a track record for celebrating projects that go on to be completed and critically acclaimed. In our very first year back in 2003 we showcased Foster & Partner’s 30 St Mary’s Axe, more popularly known by the Gherkin epithet. Last year, several of our category winners were under construction.”

All award entries are included in the MIPIM Architectural Review Future Project Awards catalogue, which is distributed to all delegates attending MIPIM (around 20,000).

2013 Winner - Retail - Autopia, Istanbul by Gokhan Avcioglu & Dara Kirmizitoprak

The winning projects will be honoured at a prize giving ceremony held during MIPIM on 12 March 2014, the hot ticket event for architects and their clients during MIPIM. All winners receive a free pass to MIPIM and all winning projects will be displayed on the MIPIM Architectural Review Future Projects website mipimarfutureprojects.com

The awards are now open for entries. Entries can be made online at mipimarfutureprojects.com. Full details of entry requirements can be found online.
